ISKRA BELIČANSKA: THE STORY OF JAMES JOYCE AS A SCUBA-DIVER IN TURLITAVA
Until March 1st and Iskra’s exhibition opening, James Joyce had nothing to do with the traditional Macedonian dish called turlitava. This is Iskra Beličanska’s special turlitava recipe for which you need: 1 kg of mixed meat and even more mixed vegetables (potatoes, tomatoes, eggplants, onions, beans etc.), James Joyce and other spices (parsley, pepper, hot peppers), oil and salt. Then do as you please.
Turlitava illustrates and visually interprets the poems of Dani Kavaš. Both authors’ perspecitve on senseless brutality of this world is sharp and merciless. Their heavy black-and-white worlds are contrasted with moments of beautifully dry lyricism.
As for James Joyce – he is still scuba-diving in turlitava.
The exhibition opens on March 1st and lasts until March
20th 2006. Music group HEXENŠUS will play at the exhibition opening.
On March 8th, DJane Nosurda will accompany the exhibition
with her selection of “no dancing please” music.
